Description

Application

The cables are used in windturbines. Among other things the CanBus cable connects the hub-box with a box in nacelle.
Notice that the cable is exposed too high temperature in the gearbox and main shaft and in contact with gear and hydraulic oil

Conductor Bare copper 7 x 0.203 mm (Section 0.22 mm2)

Insulation: TPE compound
Colour Code: 4 Cores White-Green-Brown-Yellow 
Diameter: 1.40 ± 0.1 mm 

Assembly:

Center: Fibrillated polypropilene filler
Layer:   4 Cores twisted together in quad (Sequence White-Green-Brown-Yellow) + polyester tape.
Can Bus pairs White+Brown , Green+Yellow 
  

Screen:

Aluminium/Polyester Tape (alu outside)
braided screen of tinned copper wires
(Coverage ≥ 85%) + non woven tape
 

Sheath:
Polyurethane compound, polyether based, halogenfree, flame retardant, oil resistant

UV resistant The cable has to be UV-resistant according to IEC 60068-2-5
Mechanical properties

Mechanical properties of insulation and sheathing compound:
The cable has to fulfil relevant tensile and elongation tests according to IEC60811-1-1, clause 9

Oil resistant

The cable has to be oil resistant. Test according to EN60811-2-1 (based on to IEC60811-2-1)
Standard test oil ASTM No. 2 24h at 100°C
Max tensile strength variation: +/- 40% (HD22.10, attachment A)
Max change of elongation at break: +/- 40% (HD22.10, attachment A)

Additional the cable has to be resistant to the used gear-and hydraulic oil.
Gear oil: Tribol 1710/320 150 days at 100°C
Hydraulic oil: Mobil DTE 13 M, Shell Tellus Arctic 32, Castrol AWH-M 32 140 days at 100°C

Ozone resistant The cable has to be ozone resistant. Test according to EN60811-2-1, clause 8 (or HD22.2 S3, clause 7.3)
Flame retardant The cable has to be flame retardant and self extinguish. Behavior on fire according to EN50265-2-1 (based on to IEC60332-1)
Low emission of smoke

The cable has to have low emission of smoke. Smoke visibility according to EN50268 (based on IEC61034)

Level for smoke visibility is >35%

Halogen free

Halogen free - Low emission of corrosive gases (acidic gases):
The cable has to be halogen free, have low emission of corrosive gases and acid.
Halogen free – without Chlorine, Fluorine and Bromine
Corrosive gases and acid content according to HD22.13 and EN50267-1 and EN50267-2 (based on IEC60754)
Gases from burned cables have a conductivity < 10µS/mm and pH > 4.3

Mechanical stress

Vibrations continuously affect the cables.

Cable sheath shall be provided with:

  • Manufacture name (trademark) and type
  • Production year/week or batch number
  • Meter marking

 

About Sheath surface:  

The surface of the cable sheath has to be uniform and homogeneous. This means:

  • That structure of the surface has to be uniform.
  • The surface must not be discolored.
  • There must be no swelling, no notch, no cut and no marks visible in the surface. •
  • The sheath must not show any signs of having been roughly treated.
