With its name change to Nexans Denmark A/S, the last step is taken in a process which began when Johannes Andersen in 1964 started the company Jydsk Kabel. In spite of the name, it all began in Copenhagen; but already in 1970 Johannes Andersen moved the company to Juelsminde, and in 1976 the factory began producing its own copper telecom cables.

All through the 80s and 90s, the cable industry worldwide went through huge structural changes. Many small or medium-sized companies with copper cables production were closed, but Jydsk Kabel succeeded in this turbulent market. The recepy was to concentrate on small production batches of high quality rather than mass production volumes.
When Johannes Andersen died in 1980, the company was sold. In the 80s the name was changed to Alcatel Jydsk Kabel A/S and when Alcatel in 2000 divested of its cable activities and made a free and separate compny of it, the name was changed again to its present name, Nexans Denmark A/S.
